PORTRAITS

This is my mom. My mom actually gave me most of the ideas of what to take and what poses she should do. She grabbed my old glasses off of my night stand and put them on. She actually didn't like this photo, but I loved it.

This is Angelica. We were walking to her mom's car when I noticed there were tons of leaves  so I had her do some poses. I told her to make some sort of face and this is what she came up with.

I love how the the trees and leaves turned out in this one. I told her to do her famous pose and she did her peace sigh pose. It's really an inside joke actually.

Angelica came over to get her hair cut by my mom, and while we were waiting she was playing n my piano. So of course I had to snap a few pictures. She kept laughing and telling me not to take pictures.

Here's my mom again! I told her to look off into the distance and this is what she did. I told her not to smile while she did it and of course she did!

Here's my favorite picture of her again. This one is in black and white. I remember sitting in my room with her and she said if I wanted to keep this photo to at least make it black and white so she looked nicer.

I love absolutely everything about this photo. How her clothes turned out, and how the leaves were. Just everything.

I really liked this one for some reason. Just Angelica playing on the  piano.

Here's the sepia version of my mom in her "deep thoughts".

Cross process version of Angelica and her funny face. I love how the leaves turned out in this photo. I also love her facial expression too.

SELF PORTRAITS

I tried making the texture photo show up a little different. There is actually trees in the background, but it didn't show up as much with overlay.

I tired going for a little more serious photo, so this was actually the best I could do without laughing.
I really love, love looking at clouds. Reminds me of fluffy things obviously since clouds look fluffy.

I was actually doing math homework when the camera took a photo. I liked how the shade of the paper was different throughout the whole page.
I accidentally set the time to go before i was ready, so it snapped a picture of me running a hand through my hair. I really liked how my hair looked in this.
I really like how this one turned out. It shows a lot of texture in my hair and of the rabbit. Also, the shadows on the wall turned out pretty cool.
This one was actually taken accidentally, but I liked how it turned out. It shows that sometimes I just like to doze off, or i just get distracted easily.

I love reading. I actually have not finished this book yet, but I hope to do that soon. I was running out of ideas and decided to just pop up behind a book!

I really love stuffed animals. I have a lot on top of my shelf. I've had this rabbit since I was about 3 or 4 so I just grabbed it and took a picture with it.

Web Post # 5: Beauty

1. How would you define beauty in photogrophy?

I'd define it as something that stands out to you in a photo, something that catches your eye and makes you think, "Wow, that photo is really nice."

2. What are characteristics of photographic beauty?

I think the photo needs a story to tell, good lighting, great color, and a good location for it to be beautiful. But it mostly depends on how the person sees it.

3. Can something "ugly" be photographed and be considered beautiful?

Yes, an "ugly" photo can still turn out to be beautiful. I think it would take a lot of work, but with the right amount of editing it can transform into something beautiful. For examle, this photo of really worn out shoes, to the point where the person's feet are sticking out and the ripped socks, tells you a lot in the photo. Is the person poor? Have they walked a long ways? How hard are their lives? Or is it just that it's there most favorite shoes? Imediately a ton of questions pop into your head. That is what makes it a great photo.

Pumpkin

Here is the finished pumpkin.
This is my pumpkin carving. I actually had a real difficult time trying to make it look 3 dimensional. This pop up was popping up every minute so that messed up some of my work. I like how it turned out overall though.
